Sometimes the riskiest thing to do is play it safe. This week’s note comes from a recent podcast I did on the incredible story and rise of the Momentous brand. 2016 was a remarkable year as 4 very different people headed down 4 very separate paths that in just a few short years would intersect in the most serendipitous way.

Each person was at a different stage of life and experience but started to crank what bestselling author Jim Collins calls a flywheel.

There was a young and recently retired NFL player, turned entrepreneur. A media mogul who started a VC firm. A high school student with a big idea. And last but not least, there was a former Bay Area Grom, who spent time in a youth detention center as a teen, but turned is life around with a passion for teaching science. In 2016 he would transfer from San Diego State to a new position at Stanford University.
