I’m in Austin Texas this week on a film production project and it has been great eating some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had and to spend time with my friends in this part of the country. Great stuff’s happening in Austin!

I’ve also been reading Rick Rubin’s book, The Creative Act and his message about creativity and making art is really resonating with me. One of the chapters is about “disengaging to engage.” That is, sometimes when we try too hard to create a masterpiece, whatever that means in your industry, it doesn’t happen. In these times it might be better to disengage and take a drive…take a shower…or take a break. This has worked for me a lot and sometimes when I feel blocked, the act of not thinking about my work has brought the most inspiration. I recommend giving it a try!
