Everything You (probably) Don't Know about Paid Media Buying & Ads

New podcast episode

Hi everyone,

Have you ever managed your own media campaign? You know, spent money on some kind of advertising for your business to get new customers or sell a product or service?

The barriers to entry are lower than ever. Meta Company, via Facebook and Instagram, make it a low lift to spend money these days on the platform. But while paid media buying is simple, it is not always easy to see results.

To buy media at a high level, spending thousands — even millions of dollars a month for clients — requires a rare skill set of strategy, analytics, marketing savvy and intuition.

Layer on top of all this, paid media across the various platforms including TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Amazon, Google etc. and it can get pretty complex. We’re working on paid campaigns with our production company clients as well as experimenting with our own media dollars to grow audience on the podcast side to increase sponsorship engagement with brand partners like Eight Sleep and more.

This is a must-listen episode for anyone who’s spending any kind of money to promote their products or services. I may be biased because we’re related but Austin Elliott is one of the best media planners/buyers in the game today. He got his experience in brand marketing & strategy — and particularly the media buying skill — early in his career at a smaller boutique ad agency that worked with big clients. He then parlayed his skills to earn roles at bigger firms like Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Colorado and on the client side at Activision Blizzard.

Austin is in high demand and now runs his own brand strategy & media planning business in Raleigh, North Carolina. I’m willing to bet that he will take most of you to school regarding paid media and ads.
